Airwaves BMW

March 18th 2009

Motorbase Performance will provide a breath of fresh air in the 2009 HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship after securing a major new sponsorship deal with leading chewing gum brand Airwaves.

The Kent-based team today (Wednesday) announced it will compete under the 'Airwaves BMW' banner in the forthcoming season, with drivers Rob Collard and Jonny Adam set to debut the team's 320sis in their new livery on track at Rockingham during BTCC Media Day tomorrow (Thursday).

Motorbase Unwraps Fresh Sponsorship Deal with AirwavesAirwaves BMW will seek to build on the progress made last year, which saw Motorbase end the 2008 season on a high by collecting five trophies at local circuit Brands Hatch, including three podiums and an independent win.

Airwaves BMW has also secured a number of additional key sponsor partners for the 2009 season.  Leyland Paints, one of the UK's leading business brands, will add a splash of colour to the team by providing the glamorous 'Leyland Lovelies' as grid girls at each round of the championship.  SAS International, world leaders in the design and manufacture of metal ceilings and internal architecture, and international design and production agency Tag Worldwide will also appear on the team's BMW 320sis as they challenge for honours throughout the season.

Airwaves BMW and its associate sponsors will roll-out a number of interactive initiatives as the championship progresses to enable fans to get even closer to what is already one of the most popular teams of the grid.

Team Principal David Bartrum has also used the support of the team's sponsors to strengthen the ranks in the garage, adding a number of experienced BTCC backroom staff to the squad to ensure both of its BMWs are prepared to the highest standards and in prime condition to run at the front of the BTCC pack.

Airwaves BMW Team Principal David Bartrum said:
"We're absolutely ecstatic to have secured such a hugely recognisable brand in Airwaves as our team title sponsor.  They have a proven record in motorsport, and with the tremendous end we had to 2008 we feel we have a superb chance of competing for race wins and podiums from the start of this season.  It's great news for the championship that a brand like Airwaves feels it is the place to be, and we're eager to impress as we continue to build a championship winning team.  We are also delighted to welcome on board a number of other major new sponsors for the 2009 season, including Leyland Paints, SAS International, Tag Worldwide and Teng Tools.  We are very grateful for their support and we hope all of these sponsors will be able to share in a very successful season for Airwaves BMW in 2009."
