News 2011: Parish Ready for Carrera Cup GB Campaign

March 3rd

Steve Parish

Steve Parish says he can't wait to get back to racing for his second season in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB, when he will continue his partnership with Motorbase Performance.

The London-based businessman only started racing in 2009 with the aim of getting the licence signatures required for a National A licence ahead of his debut in the Carrera Cup GB at the end of the season. All of his racing to date has been in a Porsche with the Motorbase team.

"I hope to complete the season this time," said Parish, who missed part of the 2010 season after an accident at Oulton Park in June. "I was in the pro-am2 reckoning last year and there should be a big pro-am2 entry this season. We'll all be in the same cars, so you can measure yourself against the best drivers in the Carrera Cup." His team mates will include category pacesetters Tim Harvey and Michael Caine.

Parish took his first pro-am2 win at Brands Hatch in May and was a category front-runner despite missing several race weekends.

Team boss David Bartrum is delighted to have signed Parish to continue with the multi-car Motorbase squad. Steve's not had a brand new car before, so that will be good for him," said Bartrum. "The pace is definitely in Steve and he just needs to learn this new car, like all the drivers are going to have to do."

"I really can't wait to get back in the car," said Parish. "I'm beside myself at the prospect of getting back into it." Along with the rest of the Motorbase Performance team, Parish will start testing his 450bhp 911GT3 Cup on 13 March and will take part in the pre-season test and media day at Snetterton on 22 March. Like all the Carrera Cup GB drivers, the full day of running will be his first chance to learn the new Snetterton 300 track layout, which will host two rounds of the Carrera Cup GB in early August.

The opening two races of the season will be at Brands Hatch over the weekend of 2/3 April.
