Motorbase Performance pushing for podiums at Rockingham

September 1st 2015

Cole is looking for a return to form on the oval circuit

Motorbase Performance heads to Corby in search of more silverware this coming weekend as the eighth meeting of the 2015 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship gets underway at Rockingham Speedway (September 5/6).

The Kent-based squad arrives at the oval circuit in confident form following an impressive weekend last time out at Knockhill. Celebrating a return to the BTCC rostrum in fine style with a second and third place finish and two independent race wins; Mat Jackson also emerged from the weekend as the highest points scorer from the three races combined.

Jackson claimed two independent race wins last time out at KnockhillPowered by the new mountune™ engine, the Focus ST has shown great promise since its return to the grid and with its 100% consistency record in-tact the Motorbase Performance team is confident of another strong showing on the Northamptonshire track.

"After a great set of results at Knockhill we're approaching Rockingham with great confidence and have our sights firmly set on more silverware!" said Motorbase Performance Team Manager Oly Collins.

Having missed the first half of the season and the introduction of the new ballast regulations and race two qualifying format, the squad has worked tirelessly to get up to speed with the changes and Team Manager Collins is positive that Knockhill proved a turning point for both Jackson and team-mate James Cole.

Cole and Jackson are confident heading to Rockingham"With two race meetings under our belts we've got the car performing well as a complete package;" explained Collins. "We also have a much better understanding of the changes to this year's championship with a new tyre and the added ballast which had a stronger effect than we had maybe first expected."

"All of us on the grid have the same available to us, the other teams have just have half a season head start on us;" he added. "But that being said, the Motorbase crew have done a great job adapting to these changes so quickly and hopefully we can get the results to reward all of that hard work."

Driver quotes:
#4 Mat Jackson:
"After a great weekend at Knockhill, I'm hoping that we can carry our momentum forward into Rockingham. We're heading into the weekend free of ballast which should give us an edge in qualifying and the plan is to be challenging for a front row start again.

"We're aiming for podiums, but who knows what will happen with the return of our ‘part-time' Team Principal David Bartrum - anything is possible!"

#44 James Cole:
"After a tough weekend at Knockhill I'm looking forward to getting back into the Focus again and back on a track that I know well. Rockingham is a circuit that I'm personally better suited to and the car has had success here in the past so the plan is to pick up where we left off at Snetterton and to come back fighting for a top ten finish."
