Pole position and new lap record for Motorbase Performance at Silverstone

Motorbase Performance will start tomorrow's Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship opening race from pole position following a stunning performance by Mat Jackson during today's qualifying session on the Silverstone National circuit. (September 26th).

A faultless drive from Jackson saw the 34-year-old take a clean sweep in front of his home-crowd, with the #4 Ford Focus ST topping the times in both free practice sessions before claiming pole and a new lap qualifying record during an exciting 30-minute afternoon qualifying session.

Leading the pack early on, Jackson bettered his time no less than three times in the mountune-powered Focus before ending the session on pole, with a best time of 58.078s.

Mat Jackson claimed his 2nd pole of the season on the National Circuit

Drivercool ambassador James Cole will start race one from P19 in the #44 Focus ST after posting a time of 58.716 – just two tenths off securing a top ten position.

"That was a great start to the weekend!" commented Team Principal David Bartrum. "It's nice to come here and continue the momentum from the last round at Rockingham and claim another pole.

"Mat did an awesome job; it was great to watch him keep chipping a little more of his lap each time. Hopefully we can go one step further tomorrow and go out there and win some more races!"

"So far so good;" added Mat Jackson. "We've headed up all of the sessions today and obviously the most important one qualifying which puts us in the best place possible for tomorrow.

"The car is seriously hooked up so hopefully we can sail off to a race one win. We're running the soft tyre, so it's a bit of an unknown but I feel confident that we can bring some more silverware home tomorrow."
