Motorbase Performance takes 6th and 7th in British GT double header

Motorbase Performance secured its fourth British GT Championship top-seven finish of the season at Snetterton last weekend with Ross Wylie and Phil Dryburgh claiming sixth and seventh in the two one-hour long sprint races (August 6-7).

Breaking into the highly competitive top ten for both GT3 Pro and Am qualifying sessions, Wylie and Dryburgh steered the #8 Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 to 9th place for the start of round 6 on the 2.9mile ‘300' layout. A solid drive from Dryburgh in the opening stint saw the Vantage maintain position to the pit-stop window before handing over to Wylie who eventually took the chequered flag in 6thplace overall.

Re-joining the race in 7th, Dryburgh held station for the closing laps, bringing the #8 Vantage home in tact to record the Kent-based squad's fourth top-seven finish of the season.

David Bartrum, Motorbase Performance Team Principal said; "A good weekend all in all. We're happy to come away with two solid points finishes from two solid results on what was a tough weekend. Two one hour races always throw up more challenges than the normal two hour race and an awful lot more can go wrong. Both Ross and Phil did a good job, kept their heads down all weekend and drove well and they managed to secure two decent finished without a scratch on the car.

"We can all look ahead to the last round at Donington Park now with a strong finish in mind for the championship and hopefully carry the momentum forward from this weekend."

The weekend's results means the Motorbase Performance team heads into next month's two-hour season finale at Donington Park in 7th place in the Teams' Championship Standings, with Wylie and Dryburgh 10th in the Driver Standings.

Ross Wylie:
Motorbase Performance takes 6th and 7th in British GT double header"It was pleasing to score two solid results on Sunday but we still need to work hard to get to where we want to be, i.e. the very front. Lack of seat time has been the biggest issue all season, the pace is fierce and the competition in the BGT is very high! It was good to post a couple of top-seven finishes especially as I had new partners present from A.W. Jenkinson Forest Products – its support is very, very welcome. Just one race of the season remains, at Donington Park, a track that I absolutely love. I'll be aiming to finish what has been a tough season on a high."
