Motorbase comes up trumps at Goodwood Festival of Speed

The Motorbase Performance Ford Focus ST enjoyed a successful debut at the world-famous Goodwood Festival of Speed over the weekend with Andrew Jordan claiming top honours in the inaugural BTCC shootout (23-26 June).

Jordan, who currently leads the Independent BTCC driver standings, beat six of his regular rivals on the iconic 1.15mile hill climb after three days of action during the annual motorsport event.

Aired live on Sky Sports, Jordan posted the fastest time during Sunday's final shootout in front of an impressive crowd of over 200,000 with the Motorbase Ford Focus ST beating closest rival Matt Neal's Honda Civic Type R by nearly a full second.

"It's hard to put into words just how big the Festival of Speed has become, so to be invited to take part with the Pirtek Racing Focus was an honour in itself for myself,  Motorbase and all of our sponsors," said Jordan. "The introduction of the BTCC Shootout was a fantastic idea on behalf of the organisers as it added a new element to what is already a massive event and, whatever we might have said before hand, there is no doubt that we all wanted to win!

"The Goodwood Hill provides a unique challenge with changing grip and the differing light as you head through the trees, but the Motorbase Focus was more than up to the job, especially when it was wet as no-one could get close our times in those conditions.

"To win the Shootout was fantastic, but it was just as pleasing to see how well received the car was in the paddock across the weekend;" continued Jordan. "With more than 200,000 motorsport and motoring enthusiasts in attendance, it not only allowed us to take the BTCC to a fresh audience but also provided an unrivalled way in which to promote our sponsors and I'm delighted with how it went."

David Bartrum, Motorbase Performance Team Principal added; "It's always nice to get another win under your belt, whatever the occasion and hats off to Andrew and the team for a sterling job at the weekend.

"Goodwood Festival of Speed is a unique and fantastic event that attracts a huge audience trackside, online and across the TV and press so it's a great way to bring the BTCC to more people and to introduce our sponsors to a new audience.

Andrew Jordan and Motorbase Performance team-mate Mat Jackson head to Norfolk next for the annual Dunlop BTCC tyre test on the Snetterton 300 circuit this coming Wednesday and Thursday (29/30 June).
