Oman Racing Team targeting maiden Blancpain podium at Silverstone

The Oman Racing Team is targeting a Pro-Am podium finish on home soil this coming weekend as the Blancpain Endurance Series arrives at 'The Home of British Motorsport'  Silverstone for round two of the five round series this coming weekend (May 14/15).

The #44 Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3, piloted by Ahmad Al Harthy, Devon Modell and Aston Martin works driver Jonny Adam faces imposing competition against an impressive entry list of 57 of the World's leading GT cars on the World-famous Grand Prix Circuit. However, following an imposing display during the season's opening round at Monza last month where the Motorbase-run squad secured a 4th place finish in the Pro-Am class, all three drivers have their sights set on a podium finish at the weekend.

David Bartrum, Oman Racing Team Principal said; "We had a great run in the first round at Monza last month which is probably one of our least favourite circuits for the Aston in terms of pace, so to go there and get 4th was a good result.

"It would be fantastic if we can build on the first race performance and finally make our way onto the podium, especially at our home race. The main aim of the weekend is to be competitive. The car is usually strong on the Grand Prix circuits so if we can carry forward the momentum we had in Monza, I feel sure that the team and drivers will be very happy."

The Oman Racing Team has performed well on the Grand Prix circuit in recent times, celebrating its first top ten Pro Cup finish there in 2014 before taking a dominating win in the British GT Championship Silverstone 500 the following weekend.

The track suits the car and that's the key for us this weekend, to unlock that potential and show what we're capable of. As the only Aston on the grid and being a British team running a British car on the only British circuit on the calendar, if anywhere, we need to do well at Silverstone."

Following the morning practice session at 10.55am on Saturday May 14, pre-qualifying for round 2 of the Blancpain Endurance Cup takes place at 4.30pm. Sunday's action gets underway with qualifying at 9am with the three hour race scheduled for 3pm local time with full live race coverage streamed on the official Blancpain Endurance Series website and additional coverage available on MotorsTV from 2.30pm.

MotorsTV can be found on the following channels: Sky 447 and Virgin 545.

Driver Quotes:

Jonny Adam:

"The whole team is looking forward to our home Blancpain race this weekend. Having seen how well the car and team performed at Monza I think that the circuit will suit the car better. It's always nice to race at our home circuit and in front of home support and to get a podium on our home track for Aston and Motorbase would be great.

"The way both Ahmad and Devon drove at Monza means I've got two team-mates that are driving at the top of their game and Motorbase knows the car inside out so we've got a strong chance in Pro-Am this weekend."

Ahmad Al Harthy:

"Monza was a very good way to start the season, the team did a fantastic job with the car and Jonny, Devon and I were able to be very competitive. We've gone very well at Silverstone in the past, winning in British GT a couple of years ago, so I'm very pleased to be back."

"The UK has been such a huge part of my career and it's fantastic to be back racing at Silverstone this weekend. We always have wonderful support from the British fans and I'm hopeful we can be in a position to fight for the Pro-Am podium. It's obviously the home race for the Motorbase guys too; hopefully it'll be one of the highlights of our season."

Devon Modell:

"Silverstone should suit the car better than Monza and we all know the circuit well as our 'home circuit' so I think if we can break into the top ten overall then a podium should be achievable. That's our aim for this weekend. After such a strong start to the season in Monza, I think we'd be doing ourselves an injustice if we didn't aim for that podium."
